Instructions for Form 6251 (2025) cite 26 U.S.C. §56(b)(5)(D), which does not exist

The 2025 Instructions for Form 6251 say the enhanced deduction for seniors is treated as a personal exemption and added back to alternative minimum taxable income “as an adjustment under section 56(b)(5)(D)”. Section 56(b) has no paragraph (5); the disallowance of personal exemptions is in section 56(b)(1)(D).

Consequence

Citation only: the amount added back on the form is not affected.
